My name is Jim Kogelheide and I have been and environmental activist for 12 years. About 8 years ago I began organizing children's art programs to inspire the youth to understand how wonderful this Earth of ours is. Last month I began my newest program where our discussions before the paint flies, focused on the importance of water and the animals that live in it. My grade 2 students and I wrote a song about turtles and I'd like to share it with you.
THE TURTLE SONG
I think turtles are great
They're big and round just like a plate
They live in the water most of the time
Turtles need more room
Away from cars that zoom
They live in the water most of the time
They hunt in the water
They sleep in the water
and they bathe in the sunshine the rest of the time
Turtles are our friends
Turtles are our friends
And they need us to lend a hand
To make sure
To make sure their world is safe
They don't want to live in desert lands
I think turtles are swell
Blues and greens colour their shell
They live in the water most of the time
Turtles need sandy shores
To lay their eggs and folklore
They live in the water most of the time
