Athos. The easterly prong of the Chalkidiki peninsula, with its dense woods, steep slopes, rocky shores and its monasteries which together make up Agion Oros, the Holy Mountain.

There is no comparable phenomenon elsewhere in the world.

There are about 47 monasteries, skites and small churches with about 2.500 monks.

The approach is only by the sea and the entrance is not permited for women.

This is a pilgrims fantastic place for pray, relax and meditation.
